The Licensing (Scotland) Act 2005; 5 licensing objectives; what defines alcohol under the act; licensing system and different types of licences; licensing officials; and closure and emergency closure orders.
Operating Plans and Conditions
Operating plans; licensed hours, including drinking-up time and extended hours; the mandatory national conditions for selling alcohol; and irresponsible drinks promotions.
Offences
Punishments for alcohol related offences; age-related offences and proof of age policies; test purchasing and agents; and drunkenness and intoxication offences.
Alcohol Awareness
The short and long term effects of alcohol; vulnerable groups; and the indirect effects of alcohol.
Guidelines and Measures
Drinking guidelines; what units and ABV are; weights and measures that alcohol can be served in; and BAC.
Service
Steps to promote responsible drinking; the importance of cleanliness and service; responsibilities for staff, managers and customers; good practice for service; refusing service; angry customers and using REACT; escalation policies; and closing time.
Who is this course for?
Anyone who sells alcohol as part of their job
Bar staff, waitstaff, and other employees involved in the sale or service of alcohol
Managers and supervisors in licensed venues (Not personal license holders)
Anyone working in a setting that requires alcohol sales or entertainment licensing
New hires or those needing to refresh their mandatory licensing knowledge
