Legionnaires Disease Awareness

Legionnaires’ disease is a lung infection caused by Legionella bacteria, which can be found in natural water sources and man-made water systems. Almost all premises that we use on a daily basis have water supplies and storage systems where legionella can potentially be present, given the right conditions.
In this course, we will cover:
• What Legionnaires’ disease is and its symptoms
• The conditions needed for legionella bacteria to multiply in man-made water systems
• Legislation covering legionella and Legionnaires’ disease
• Legal responsibilities of duty holders and employers
• Legionella risk assessments
• Main control measures used to reduce risks
